Hey, I’m Tonya! I’m the founder of Freedom Through Financial Literacy, and I’m passionate about helping people feel more confident about their money, protect the people they love, and build a better financial future.

Let me tell you why this work is so personal to me.

I’ve seen what happens when a family loses someone they love and there’s no life insurance in place. My own family experienced that heartbreak when we lost my cousin. Instead of having the space to grieve, our family had to come together to help cover the funeral expenses through donations, GoFundMe, and selling dinner plates.

That experience stayed with me. It reminded me that a conversation we put off today can leave the people we love facing difficult financial decisions tomorrow. I don’t want families to have to scramble for money during one of the hardest moments of their lives when planning ahead may help ease that burden.

I also understand the challenges of building a business. As a former restaurant owner, I know what it feels like to work hard, take care of everybody else, and sometimes put your own financial future on the back burner. I understand why financial education matters—not just for families, but for entrepreneurs and small business owners, too.

That’s why I do what I do. Through Freedom Through Financial Literacy, I want to make financial education approachable, judgment-free, and accessible to EVERYBODY. Whether we’re talking about term life insurance, budgeting, investing, or preparing for retirement, my goal is to help you understand your options so you can make informed decisions for yourself and the people who depend on you.

I’m not here to judge where you are financially or make you feel bad about what you don’t know. I’m here to help you learn, ask questions, explore your options, and take your next step with confidence.

Because to me, this is about more than money. It’s about protecting families, creating opportunities, building generational wealth, and helping people stop starting over financially.
